I’m sick of it.
I’m sick of living in a world where a woman’s worth is measured only by how aesthetically pleasing she is to others.
I’m sick of women buying into it.
I’m sick of exercise being a fashion craze where the burned calories only count if you wear the right clothes and update the right social media pages.
I’m sick of the way people say the word ‘Fat’, baring their teeth, snarling and spitting the sound out of their mouth like it was poison.
Like it’s the worst possible thing you could ever be.
I’m sick of girls feeling like they should punish themselves every time they enjoy a meal.
Every bite an admonishment, every swallow a promise that they’ll make themselves pay for it later.
I’m sick of self-hatred being the norm.
Where you’re considered some kind of freak if you’re not constantly trying to change yourself.
It doesn’t have to be like this.
You can choose to like yourself, just as you are right now.
You don’t have to wait until you’re the right size, the right weight, the right anything.
You don’t have to wait until someone else validates you with a kiss or an upvote or a Facebook ‘like’.
There is nothing wrong with who you are right now.
They want you to hate yourself. It makes you easier to control.
Loving yourself is the greatest middle finger you can ever give to this skewed society.
